
Less than 5 miles away is Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area with hiking trails and an opportunity to see petroglyphs. In 30 minutes one can visit Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area with its distinctive, dramatic red rock formations and excellent hiking trails. Nearby Hoover Dam provides an opportunity to visit one of the 7 Modern Engineering Wonders within the United States. Adjacent, Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers boating, swimming, and water sports. Mount Charleston, at 7510 ft, is part of the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area. Valley of Fire State Park, 60 miles away, is a geological wonderland with incredible rock formations colored by Aztec Red sandstone. Within the park 2,500 year old petroglyphs can be seen. At nearby Mt Charleston and Lee Canyon, SCA residents enjoy year round outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and snowboarding.
